The Good, The Bad, and The Just Downright Ugly

We blame the media for their spin on politics, religion and the sort for disrupting our belief systems and the trickery they put out to make us believe one side is against the other.  Even recently, there has been blame placed on the medium for the failure to convict Casey Anthony, the Florida mother accused of murder.  How to we blame the media?  If we should blame anyone, shouldn’t we blame the failure of the prosecution by not displaying the facts in the case to show cause? Should we blame the defense for bending the law to her favor?  But why should we blame the media?

Right now, America is still facing the possibility of defaulting on money owed for the first time in our history.  Every day, it’s something new, and to keep political beliefs off the table, America needs all the publicly elected officials to get off their asses, and get something done.  I’m sure, no where in the plan as it stands will we be defaulting on paychecks to Congress.  So why should we default on Social Security payments or military benefits?  Frankly though, that’s not the point…the point is that the media’s job and efforts in all of this coverage is to keep American’s informed….but yet they take the heat in reporting what we have to consider the facts.  Are they the true facts?  I don’t know that we will ever know, but it’s not what the media wants us to know…it’s what the government wants us to know.

This blog post is in defense of the media.  Can it be a downright dirty business….sure, but what American business at this point isn’t?  Even our church systems are marred by ugly stories of impure acts, to say the least.  My problem, is when did America become so greedy and so instant where everything is about me, and what affects me this very minute?  What happened to the foundations of America…help your neighbors, be kind to others, etc?  I hear from people everyday, that there is nothing good in the news anymore…guess what, you’re right.  It’s a sad realization to make, but that’s not the media’s fault….it’s the fault of each and everyone one of us…we have not given the media anything good to report anymore.  Don’t blame these hardworking people for doing their jobs…maybe we should be more focused on doing ours?
