Is 2012 The Year of On-Demand Marketing?

The New Year always pushes us to change.  Change our diets, change certain habits.  We all claim to look at personal growth and change in a new year.  I foresee 2012 to be the year of big changes across the board for the American public.  Not only in their personal lives but within their business climates.

Over the last few years, we’ve seen our American economic and business climate change hand over fist.  We’ve all gone to juggling more plates then ever before, and with technological advances, our business never stops.  We no longer clock out at 5:00pm and go home to dinner with our families.  We are running errands, checking emails at all hours of the day thanks to Blackberries and iPhones.  I’ve witnessed it in my business, as I often find myself working at 5:30am and still working at 8:00pm.  Our clients are busier than they have ever been before, but sadly the sales and profits aren’t equating to the work we are putting in.

This is why advertisers must adapt and become more aggressive in their marketing efforts than ever before.  There is more competition and always someone out there offering a better price.  The advertising climate continues to change, and we’re beginning to see large increases in “alternative” media.  Advertisers have already begun to break away from the “traditional” platforms of radio, television, and print.  They are focusing on the digital generation of consumers….online efforts (while attempting to figure out what their customers are even doing online), text message marketing (which is now the fastest growing segment of advertising spending nationwide), as well as social media, which has probably become the biggest player in the game.
